Artful Lodger Testimonials
My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night to enjoy two days in Newport. It was our first time to RI. Phil, the manager, is amazing. He was very helpful and knowledgeable to the surrounding area. He has even compiled a lovely guest book for the rooms with history and local recommendations. Phil also made sure to call us prior to our arrival to check in on us. He even allowed us to check in and settle in prior to the window for check in on my reservation confirmation, which was convenient when coming from 4 hours away
We recently stayed in Anne's room at the Artful Lodger. From the moment we pulled into the driveway to when we reluctantly left, our stay was perfect. We loved our room with the sun porch and deck, a little oasis! Phil is top notch and an incredible chef, no worries about breakfast...anything you request will be fabulous.
Yes the inn is old (like vintage--not run down old) and quirky (like authentic--not weird) but the advantage to that is the guests are interesting people who are travelers not tourists. breakfast conversation is a delight.
The location is ideal for touring the mansions or the waterfront--you don't need to get into your car.
By all means if you want to feel like you are in Newport and not a big box room or a fussy fussy BNB talk to Phil and he will help you pick the perfect room.
The Havisham Suite is outstanding! Very clean, jacuzzi tub, fireplace, quiet. Phil was very helpful recommending restaurants, especially since we were visiting during the Aquidneck Island natural gas situation and not many Newport restaurants were open. Breakfast was always freshly made to order and the daily muffins are superb! The Inn is conveniently located to many shops and restaurants.
